On behalf of the students and faculty of the Center, I want to take this opportunity to welcome you to the Center of Excellence in Computer Information Systems (CECIS) at Dakota State University in Madison, SD. The CECIS was established by the South Dakota Board of Regents in recognition of the outstanding reputation of Dakota State University in the academic areas of Computer Information Systems and Computer Science.

The Center provides its member students with the opportunity to increase their leadership potential by being members of the Center for Excellence. The Center is open to students of all academic disciplines that meet certain academic criteria, but more importantly have the desire to increase their knowledge and skill level in the development and application of information technology tools.

Highlighting Student Research

The Center of Excellence is focusing its efforts in 2005-2006 on research.  Governor Round's 2010 Initiatives stress the need for increased research across our state.  The South Dakota Board of Regents has placed increased emphasis in research and grant writing for higher education.  Recognizing this, the Center of Excellence is sponsoring the Student Research Initiative, please see the link on this exciting program on the left side of this page.  In addition, the Center is taking the lead on the DSU campus for the promotion of the annual Pierre Poster Day session.  This 8th annual day of sharing and showcasing of student research will be held on February 8, 2006 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the Capitol Rotunda.  Links to the poster session are also available on the left side of this page.  The Poster Session is open to all DSU students.  The goal of the Center of Excellence in this endeavor is a huge showing of the research talents of the student population at Dakota State University.  If you have questions regarding this opportunity, they should be addressed to Dr. Pauli

The mission of the Center for Excellence in Computer Information Systems at Dakota State University is to provide further educational opportunities and real world experiences so that the member students can take a lead role in leadership, development and application of information technology tools for a wide variety of uses in business, industry, government, and education.
